Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 (2015)

Chevrolet Tahoe Z71

Chevrolet introduced Z71 editions of the 2015 Tahoe and Suburban at the 2014 Texas State Fair.
Synonymous with off-road performance, the Z71 package adds a front skid plate, off-road tires mounted on 18-inch wheels, a unique grille, running boards and “Z71” identification inside and out. Fog lamps, front tow hooks and front parking assist are also included.
“The popular Z71 package enhances the capable look and feel of the new 2015 Tahoe and Suburban,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Marketing. “It gives customers another choice when it comes to selecting the full-size Chevrolet SUV that’s perfect for their lifestyle.”
The Z71 package is available on 2015 Tahoe and Suburban LT models with 4WD, with vehicles produced starting in October. Those vehicles also benefit from additional content added midway through the launch year, including OnStar 4G LTE with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless phone charging capability and hands-free liftgate operation.
OnStar with 4G LTE with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot is standard on LT and LTZ models. It provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected. The hotspot is on whenever the vehicle is on and comes with a three-month/three gigabyte data trial (whichever comes first), after which the customer can purchase additional data.
The hands-free liftgate and wireless phone charging are included with the available Luxury Package on LT models and they’re standard on LTZ. The hands-free liftgate feature allows a customer with a keyless entry fob to open and close the liftgate by waving his or her foot under a sensor beneath the rear fascia.
With the wireless phone charging feature, a magnetic inductive charging system allows users to place their phone on a small mat in the vehicle, where it charges without the need to plug it in.
Designed for greater capability
The new Z71 package complements a chassis and suspension system engineered to deliver a quieter, more-controlled ride. It all starts on a stronger, fully boxed, perimeter frame, which supports payload and trailering capability that body-frame-integral crossovers and SUVs can’t match.
All models – 2WD and 4WD – feature an updated coil-over-shock independent front suspension design. At the rear is a five-link coil-spring suspension design, which enables optimal ride and handling through more precise tuning. Additional chassis and suspension features include:
  • A wider rear track that contributes to a more planted stance
  • Shear-style body mounts, which reduce body shake and enhance the feeling of structural stiffness and improve damping performance when compared with previous compression mounts
  • Eighteen-inch standard wheels are a half-inch wider than previous models, reducing tire flex for improved cornering performance
  • New, electric variable-assist power steering system enhances fuel economy and tailors steering assist to vehicle speed
  • New four-wheel-disc brake system with Duralife™ brake rotors that offer up to double the service life
  • Available automatic locking rear differential that provides greater traction when needed and greater driving comfort when it’s not.
Tahoe and Suburban LTZ models feature third-generation magnetic ride control – a real-time damping system that delivers more precise body motion control. It “reads” the road every millisecond and changes damping in just 10-15 milliseconds in shocks filled with a magneto-rheological fluid containing minute iron particles. Under the presence of magnetic charge, the iron particles align to provide damping resistance almost instantly.
Z71: A legacy of capability
Chevrolet has long used the Z71 designation as the order code for 4WD or off-road suspension packages on its full-size trucks and SUVs – much like Z28 originally denoted a specific suspension package on the Camaro.
In 1988, the first official special Z71 package appeared on Chevrolet’s new-generation full-size pickup trucks, melding capability-enhancing components such as special shocks and chassis protection equipment with visual distinction, including the iconic Z71 rear fender decals.
As Chevrolet introduced new-generation full-size SUVs for 2000, a special Tahoe Z71 marked the end of production for the previous-generation models. Z71 packages were offered on Tahoe and Suburban in 2001 and have remained in production for most of the last 15 years. On some models, the package was available with 2WD suspensions as well.
In 2013, Z71-equipped models accounted for 10 percent of Tahoe and Suburban sales.

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible (2016)

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

The electro-hydraulic power roof system features multilayer construction - including acoustic and thermal barriers - designed for a comfortable, quiet driving experience in all seasons. The top emulates the sleek silhouette of the Camaro coupe.
"The 2016 Camaro coupe will set the benchmark for the segment in terms of technology, performance and design," said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager. "Adding the most sophisticated top in the segment brings another level of refinement - and driving enjoyment - to the Camaro convertible."
The new Camaro convertible arrives in early 2016.
Like the Camaro coupe, the convertible benefits from a stiffer, lighter structure that helps reduce total vehicle weight by at least 200 pounds compared to the model it replaces. Consequently, the Camaro convertible retains the coupe's sharp chassis tuning and nimble reflexes.
"From the beginning, the Camaro's architecture was developed to incorporate a convertible with uncompromised driving dynamics," said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. "Customers will appreciate what they don't feel: quivers, cowl shake or an under-damped chassis typically found in a four-seat convertible."
The architecture also enables the Camaro convertible's sleek design, allowing the top to fold down completely beneath the belt line. The hard tonneau cover automatically covers the folded top, creating a finished appearance.
"With many convertibles, you have to affix a tonneau cover manually - if it's done at all," said Tom Peters, design director. "The Camaro convertible's automatically deploying hard tonneau not only makes it easier to enjoy convertible driving when the inspiration hits, it ensures the car always looks its best."
About the 2016 Camaro
The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro offers higher levels of performance, technology and refinement and is designed to maintain the sporty car segment leadership earned over the past five years.
Offered in LT and SS models, it provides a faster, more nimble driving experience and a broader powertrain range.
Six all-new powertrain combinations are offered, including a 2.0L Turbo rated at an SAE-certified 275 horsepower, an all-new 3.6L V-6 producing and SAE-certified 335 horsepower, and the LT1 6.2L V-8, which is SAE-certified at 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque - the most powerful Camaro SS ever. Each engine is available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
Camaro's leaner, stiffer platform and slightly smaller dimensions are accentuated by a dramatic, sculpted exterior. Meticulously tuned in the wind tunnel, the exterior contributes to performance through reduced aerodynamic lift for better handling, while enhancing highway fuel efficiency.
Inside, the driver-focused cabin integrates class-leading control technologies, including a new Driver Mode Selector, configurable instrument cluster and a customizable ambient lighting feature.
The 2016 Camaro coupe and convertible will be produced at General Motors' Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Lansing, Mich.

Chevrolet Malibu (2016)

Chevrolet Malibu

Chevrolet introduced the all-new 2016 Malibu - a completely restyled midsize sedan engineered to offer more efficiency, connectivity and advanced safety features than ever.
An all-new hybrid powertrain, which leverages technology from the Chevrolet Volt, will offer an estimated combined fuel economy rating exceeding 45 mpg. The Malibu's standard 1.5L turbo powertrain is projected to offer 37 mpg highway.
The 2016 Malibu is also longer and lighter, with more interior space and improved fuel efficiency. Its wheelbase has been stretched close to four inches (101 mm), and it is nearly 300 pounds (136 kg) lighter than the current model.
"Midsize customers tell us they want great fuel economy, connected technologies, wrapped in a gorgeous exterior. This is exactly what the 2016 Malibu was engineered to do," said Jesse Ortega, Malibu chief engineer.
The 2016 Malibu goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015. Additional vehicle highlights:

  • All-new, power-dense Ecotec 1.5L turbo engine with fuel-saving stop/start technology is standard, offering a GM-estimated 160 hp (119 kW)
  • High-output 2.0L turbo with GM-estimated 250 hp (186 kW) is available and is mated with a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new Malibu will be offered in L, LS, LT and Premier trims, as well as the Hybrid model. The Premier trim, Chevrolet's new uplevel designation, debuts in the 2016 Malibu. Additional model and trim details will be announced closer to the start of production.
    Malibu Hybrid technology
Using technology from the 2016 Chevrolet Volt propulsion system, Malibu Hybrid will offer an estimated combined fuel economy rating exceeding 45 mpg, higher than the combined mileage ratings of the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata hybrid variants.
An all-new, direct-injection 1.8L four-cylinder engine mated to a two-motor drive unit, slightly modified from the 2016 Chevrolet Volt drive unit, powers the Malibu Hybrid. The drive unit provides additional power to assist the engine during acceleration, for 182 horsepower (136 kW) of total system power.
The engine also features Chevrolet's first application of Exhaust Gas Heat Recovery, or EGHR, technology, which uses exhaust heat to warm the engine and cabin. EGHR improves engine warm up and ensures consistent fuel economy performance in cold weather. Additional fuel economy benefits come from Exhaust Gas Recirculation, or EGR.
An 80-cell, 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides electric power to the hybrid system. It can power the Malibu Hybrid up to 55 miles per hour (88 km/h) on electricity alone. The gasoline-powered engine automatically comes on at higher speeds and high loads to provide additional power.
In addition to the drive unit, the Malibu Hybrid also shares the 2016 Volt's blended regenerative braking system, which provides maximum kinetic energy recovery during braking to be stored into the battery system to help maintain charge, and drive unit power electronics.
    Turbocharged performance and efficiency
An all-new, Ecotec 1.5L turbo is the standard engine in the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, offering a GM-estimated 37 mpg on the highway. It is part of a new global family of small-displacement gas engines designed with greater power density to deliver confident performance with excellent efficiency.
The new 1.5L turbo employs the stop/start technology introduced on the 2014 Malibu, which enhances efficiency in stop-and-go driving, contributing to a GM-estimated 27 mpg in city driving - an 8-percent increase over the current model. On the highway, 1.5L-equipped models also feature active grille shutters that reduce aerodynamic drag to optimize efficiency.
The Malibu's more-efficient standard engine delivers a GM-estimated 160 horsepower (119 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque (250 Nm). The torque is comparable to the current model's standard 2.5L naturally aspirated engine in a vehicle package that's nearly 300 pounds lighter.
A higher-output 2.0L turbocharged engine is available, offering a GM-estimated 250 horsepower (186 kW) and 258 lb-ft of torque (350 Nm), for a higher degree of performance - but not at the expense of good efficiency. Malibu 2.0T models are GM-estimated at 22 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway.
An all-new, GM-developed eight-speed automatic transmission - the first eight-speed automatic in a GM front-wheel-drive vehicle - contributes to the 2.0T's balance of performance and efficiency. The 1.5L turbo engine is matched with a six-speed automatic.
Teen Driver and an expanded range of safety features
Teen Driver, a standard feature on most trim levels of the next-generation Malibu, supports safe driving habits by muting the audio or any device paired with the vehicle when front-seat occupants aren't wearing their safety belts. Teen Driver also provides audible and visual warnings when the vehicle is traveling over predetermined speeds.
To use Teen Driver, a parent enables the feature with a PIN in the Settings menu of the Malibu's MyLink system, which allows them to register their teen's key fob. The system's settings are turned on only to registered key fobs.
Chevrolet is the first in the industry with a built-in system that lets parents view on a display how their teenager drove the vehicle. Maximum speed reached, distance driven and number of times active safety features were engaged are among the parameters that can be confirmed.
Teen Driver complements a roster of standard and available safety features, including a rear-view camera system standard on LS, LT, Hybrid and Premier models.
  • Ten air bags, including front-seat knee air bags, head-curtain side-impact air bags and seat-mounted side air bags, are also standard.
  • Rear-view camera system is standard on LS, LT, Hybrid and Premier models.
Available active safety features include:
  • Front Pedestrian Alert that uses a forward-looking camera to help avoid or reduce the harm caused by crashes with pedestrians ahead of the vehicle. The system can apply automatic last-second braking
  • New Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
  • Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert
  • New Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Front and Rear Park Assist
  • Intellibeam, which automatically switches the headlamps to high beam for better road illumination and improved visibility
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Automatic Braking

Sleeker design with lighter, stronger body structure
With a wheelbase stretching 3.6 inches (91 mm) longer than the current Malibu, along with a 2.3-inch (58 mm) longer overall length and the same overall width, the 2016 Malibu strikes a sleeker-looking proportion. The added wheelbase helps provide better in-cabin comfort and functionality.
With styling influenced by the 2014 Impala, the all-new Malibu advances Chevrolet's global design language with features such as slim, sweeping headlamps and a progressive take on the brand's characteristic dual-port grille. Three body-side creases also add drama to the design and help distinguish the Malibu as a contemporary Chevy.
The hood and the cowl - the area where the windshield meets the hood - are lower than the current model and contribute to the Malibu's greater aerodynamic performance, as do active grille shutters on LS and LT models.
Premium design cues are incorporated on all models, with contemporary lighting technology featured across the lineup, including light-emitting diode (LED) daytime running lamps on LT and Premier models. The Malibu Premier also receives LED taillamps.
Beneath the new Malibu's athletic-looking skin is a stronger, lighter body structure that contributes to its efficiency and driving dynamics. Greater use of high-strength steels enabled engineers to design the body structure with thinner components in some areas, delivering comparable crash performance with lower weight. The all-new body structure accounts for more than one-third of the Malibu's nearly 300-pound weight reduction.
Roomier, more comfortable and more connected interior
The longer wheelbase allows a more open execution of Chevrolet's signature dual-cockpit interior. Rear legroom improves by 1.3 inches (33 mm).
The cabin's open, expansive feel is reinforced with a greater emphasis on comfort, convenience and connectivity, allowing the Malibu to keep pace with customers' connected lives. Highlights include:
  • Chevrolet MyLink with a seven-inch-diagonal color capacitive touch screen is standard on LS, LT and Hybrid models
  • Chevrolet MyLink with an eight-inch-diagonal capacitive touch screen is available on LT and Hybrid models and standard on Premier model
  • Chevrolet MyLink with navigation is available with the eight-inch MyLink system and features three-dimensional map views for most major U.S. cities and attractions
  • All-new Teen Driver feature is supported by the eight-inch MyLink system, allowing parents to restrict certain vehicle functions to support safer driving and to view their kids' driving statistics such as maximum speed, warning alerts and more
  • OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot is standard on all models with a three-month/3GB data trial (whichever comes first)
  • Wireless phone charging available on LT and Hybrid and standard on Premier
  • Dual rear-seat USB ports and a 110-volt power outlet is optional on LT and standard on Premier trim.
The instrument panel "center stack" is all-new, with greater delineation between the infotainment system and climate system controls for easier, at-a-glance operation. The Malibu's interior is also features:
  • Galvano (satin) chrome accents on the instrument panel and center console
  • Dedicated storage slot for mobile phones, which incorporates wireless charging, if equipped

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde (2014)

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Giulietta is now available in a new Quadrifoglio Verde version, a true expression of Alfa Romeo's racing DNA. With respect to the other versions in this range, the new Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde is characterised by a decisive look and a strong personality. In addition, it features the exclusive engine inherited from the Alfa Romeo 4C supercar: the new 240 HP direct injection 1750 Turbo Petrol aluminium-block engine combined with a next generation 6-speed twin dry clutch 'Alfa TCT'.
To mark the launch, Alfa Romeo will present a special 'Launch Edition' Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde in a limited edition featuring specific components such as: carbon spoilers and mirror fairings, front and rear sports DAMs, side skirts and 18" alloy wheels with five holes and glossy Antracite finish. The Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde 'Launch Edition' will be available in Alfa Red or in Competizione Red (triple coat) in addition to the exclusive matt Magnesio Grey livery.
Exterior
Outside, the car is distinguished by the typical ride of a true sports car and by the legendary 'Quadrifoglio Verde' emblem located on the side panel, near the direction indicator. Furthermore, a glossy Antracite finish for mirror fairings, front grille, door handles and fog light frames distinguishes even further the new Quadrifoglio Verde within the Giulietta range.

The new car's aggressive look is highlighted by specific large exhaust tailpipes and 17" or 18" alloy rims that reveal the braking system 'by Brembo' with 4-piston fixed red brake callipers and front discs oversized by 320 millimetres.
Interiors
Attention was paid to details and high quality materials were chosen to represent the ultimate expression of Italian style. In particular, the black sports arrangement stands out and is further enhanced by the new instrument panel with special QV logo and by the new leather and Alcantara trim wraparound sports seats with built-in head restraints. The new moulded steering wheel with leather trim and contrasting white (or red) stitching is supplied as standard. The gear lever boot and the parking brake lever are leather coated with white and green (or red) stitching. Aluminium sport pedals, specific kick plate with QV logo, black roof lining and special mats complete the new version's interiors.
Engine and transmission
After its introduction on the Alfa Romeo 4C, the range's top performing engine is now fitted on the new Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde: the new direct injection 1750 Turbo Petrol aluminium-block engine delivers 240 HP at 5750 rpm and has excellent specific torque and power values for its category, namely: 194 Nm/l and 137 HP/l. Extraordinary elasticity and sportiness are ensured by the 340 Nm max torque that remains stable in the 2000-4000 rpm range, but is already 80% available at only 1800 rpm.
The 240 HP direct injection 1750 Turbo Petrol engine implements an innovative aluminium block and specific intake and exhaust systems which have been optimised to enhance the sports appeal of the car even further. In addition, it boasts cutting-edge technical solutions including direct fuel injection, dual continuous variable valve timing, a turbocharger and the revolutionary scavenging control system which rules out any turbo lag.
The new 1750 Turbo Petrol engine is matched with the state-of-the-art 6-speed twin dry clutch 'Alfa TCT' in a combination made of automatic transmission practicality and sequential shift responsiveness. In detail, the transmission works in either all-automatic or sequential mode. The 'up and down' positions of the precise and ergonomic gear lever are managed manually by the driver, who can also choose to combine it with the shift paddles on the steering wheel. The car's character can be customised by the driver using the Alfa DNA driving selector to enhance its features of comfort, performance, safety and efficiency.
Another special feature of the 'Alfa TCT' fitted on Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde is the Launch Control system for managing starting from a standstill. Launch Control is activated by pressing the brake pedal while pushing the accelerator pedal all the way down and squeezing the paddle on the left of the steering wheel. As soon as you release the brake, the system automatically controls the gearbox, traction and power to maximise acceleration.
Performance
With this engine, the Giulietta's flagship can exceed 240 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 6.0 seconds, that is 8 tenths of a second less than the previous version with manual gearbox. These remarkable times can be obtained even by the least experienced drivers by using the Launch Control function. The driving emotion is further enhanced by the sound produced by both the new fuel intake unit - called 'QV Intake Engine Sound' - that enhances the low frequencies and the typical Alfa Romeo engine roar.
This impressive level of performance has been achieved with minimum impact on the environment: by implementing multiple injection control and advanced anti-friction and energy loss reduction systems, the emissions of the 'Quadrifoglio Verde' version meet the strict limits of Euro 6 standards. Furthermore, with respect to the previous Quadrifoglio Verde, the new Giulietta 1750 TBi 240HP TCT guarantees a significant reduction of CO2 emissions, dropping from 177 to 162 g/km.
The top-performance emblem is thus reinterpreted with a modern touch, combining the utmost driving pleasure with greater environmental awareness for an eco-conscious and sustainable sportiness.
Standard equipment and Infotainment
On the back of these exceptional dynamic qualities and performance/consumption ratio, Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Verde comes with an unprecedented array of standard equipment. Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde (2014)

Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde

The new Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde is the compact cars' dynamic soul. It conquered those European customers who were sensitive to Italian style and to technical excellence aimed at providing driving satisfaction in total safety.
Exterior
The Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde is identified by a sporty look featuring a rear spoiler, a sports bumper with extractor beside the new burnished finish for mirror fairings, front grille, door handles, front and rear headlight frames and 17" alloy wheels with red brake callipers standing out. The all matt Magnesio Grey body colour for the MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde enhances this compact sports car's aggressive design and highlights the 'Quadrifoglio Verde' logo located under the side direction indicator.
Interior
The black interior respects the exterior style and at the same time features a long series of developments which underline this model's most sporty and dynamic spirit. This is highlighted by the new moulded leather steering wheel with contrasting white stitching, the new instruments with QV logo, the Competizione dashboard with 'carbon look' finish and the new special mats. Inside, black leather is used to cover the handbrake lever (with white stitching) and the gear lever boot (with white and green stitching).
Engine and transmission
The engine is the heart and at the same time the true strength of every Alfa Romeo model. And the new MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde is no exception. In terms of sports design and strong personality, the car introduces the new 1.4 MultiAir Turbo Petrol engine which, in combination with the next generation 6-speed double dry clutch 'Alfa TCT', develops a maximum power of 170 HP at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 230 Nm at 2500 rpm (it increases to 250 Nm at 2500 rpm in Dynamic mode).
The pièce de résistance of this engine version is its outstanding weight/power ratio, which has always been one of the key factors behind the success of Alfa Romeo cars on the road and the race track.
A desire to be ahead of its time is encoded in the DNA of the Alfa Romeo MiTo and is confirmed by the new engine: after being the first car to offer the revolutionary MultiAir engine, it is now the first car in Italy to offer the next-generation Alfa TCT matched with the 135 HP 1.4 MultiAir Turbo engine (awarded Best New Engine of the Year 2011 by an international panel of experts) and Start&Stop system.
The heart of MultiAir is a new electro hydraulic valve management system that reduces fuel consumption by controlling air directly via the inlet valves (without using the throttle) and reduces polluting emissions too (via combustion control). As befits a flag-bearer for the downsizing concept, MultiAir is a versatile technology that is easily applied to all petrol engines. Examples include the new 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir engine that has been recently introduced on the new 2014 MiTo.
Performance
The Alfa Romeo MiTo's most sporty model offers excellent performance. It reaches a top speed of 219 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 7.3 seconds with reduced emissions and fuel consumption. In the combined cycle, these values are respectively 5.4 l/100 km and 124 g/km of CO2 emissions. With respect to the previous Quadrifoglio Verde, both CO2 emissions (-11%) and fuel consumption (-10%) are improved.
Not to mention the fact that Alfa Romeo power units are distinguished by their unmistakable Alfa Romeo sound that emphasises the unique nature of the car while complying fully with type approval constraints and environmental aspects.
Standard equipment and options
True to its image of technological car, the new MiTo 'Quadrifoglio Verde' offers the very best that is currently available in the field of infotainment and on-board comfort. This is showcased by the comprehensive standard equipment inclusive of a special instrument panel with white graphics and 'Quadrifoglio Verde' logo, moulded sports steering wheel with white stitching and radio controls (8 buttons), fog lights, braking system 'by Brembo' and electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, aluminium kick plate with Quadrifoglio Verde logo, front seats with lumbar adjustment (with height-adjustable passenger seat).
The spoiler and sports rear bumper, the twin chrome exhaust tail pipes, the 17" alloy wheels with burnished finish, the external 'Quadrifoglio Verde' logo, the gear lever boot with double white and green stitching, the parking brake lever with white intersecting stitching, the door-handle burnished finish and front and rear light cluster frames come as standard.
Moreover, the new MiTo 'Quadrifoglio Verde' offers the new Uconnect system with 5" colour touchscreen as standard and is also available with a navigation system by Tom Tom. All you have to do is tap on the screen to download and play to your favourite music and rock your world. It is not by chance that since 2008 the MiTo has played the starring role in Alfa Romeo's communication campaign at concerts, events, DJ sets, exhibitions and high-level sessions sponsored by the brand.
Finally, the interiors can be equipped with Sabelt seats with a wraparound carbon fibre backrest made with the innovative RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) technology, which teams great mechanical resistance with smaller dimensions and lightness. The Alfa Romeo logo stands out in the central part of the Alcantara® material. It is all embellished with new white and green stitching that highlights the craftsmanship of the product, found on the leather trim of the gearbox and steering wheel, the latter complete with radio controls.

Acronym 4C
The Alfa Romeo 4C is inspired by the century-old tradition of Alfa Romeo and projects the brand's authentic values into the future: Italian style, performance and engineering excellence, offering maximum driving satisfaction in total safety. The "4C" name recalls Alfa Romeo's great sporting tradition: the acronyms 8C and 6C in the 1930s and 1940s distinguished racing and road cars fitted with powerful eight and six cylinder engines. The 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C model's designation continues this tradition with the latest all-aluminum 1750 cc turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder engine.
A tradition of essential beauty and function
The inspiration for the all-new 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C dates back to the 1967 33 Stradale, the homologated version of the racing Type 33, which is considered one of the most beautiful cars of all time. Like the 33 Stradale that combined extreme mechanical and functional requirements with undeniable Alfa Romeo style and performance - the 4C coupe shares its body forms and follows this performance tradition with an undoubtedly Italian-styled composite body "clothing," a state-of-the-art carbon fiber and aluminum structure, and a high-performance turbocharged engine.
With a purpose-built cockpit inspired by the legendary 1967 33 Stradale, entering the interior of the all-new Alfa Romeo 4C means entering a world derived from motorsport - only essential components for performance are integrated. Two composite-framed sport seats, thermoformed dashboard and exposed carbon fiber monocoque highlight the coupe's technological uniqueness. Furthermore, a driver-oriented cockpit with flat-bottom performance steering wheel with paddle-shift controls and aluminum pedals speak to the brand's racing spirit. Emphasizing the Alfa Romeo 4C's advanced technology and focus on lightweight technical solutions is a 7-inch full-color thin-film transistor (TFT) instrument cluster that displays simple, high-impact graphics to keep the driver focused on the road, or track ahead.
Ultra-lightweight: carbon fiber, aluminum and composites structures
To create the ultra-lightweight architecture needed for maximum performance and dynamic efficiency, Alfa Romeo 4C engineers looked to Formula 1 and only the most advanced supercars for state-of-the-art materials. The result is a monocoque made entirely of carbon fiber that delivers extraordinary stiffness and strength. Attached to the Alfa Romeo 4C's exotic monocoque are front and rear cell structures, roof reinforcements and an engine-mounting frame made from lightweight aluminum.
Alfa Romeo engineers continued the use of state-of-the-art materials by creating the bodywork entirely of SMC (Sheet Molding Compound), a low-density, high-strength composite material that is 20 percent lighter and dimensionally more rigid than steel. Providing the ability to create complex shapes while saving weight by 20 percent compared to steel are PUR-RIM (injected polyurethane) fascias and rear spoiler. Engineers even optimized the Alfa Romeo 4C's windshield and side windows by using 10 percent thinner glass to reduce weight by up to 15 percent.
Finally, two sport seats feature a carbon fiber and fiberglass reinforced-composite structure to deliver the strength and seating position needed for performance driving.
Supercar performance, compact size
Thanks to Alfa Romeo 4C's advanced technological solutions and compact size, the coupe demonstrates its precision, agility and performance credentials with:
  • The 4C exudes proportions of exotic supercars, dimensions include:
    • Overall length: 157.5 inches (400 cm)
    • Overall width: 73.5 inches (186 cm)
    • Overall height: 46.6 inches (118 cm)
  • Top speed: 160 mph (257 km/h)
  • 0-to-60 mph: mid-4 second range
  • Coefficient of drag (Cd): 0.335
  • Lateral acceleration: >1.1 g
  • Maximum braking deceleration: > 1.25g
  • Dry weight: 2,315 lbs. (1,050 kg)
  • EPA curb weight: 2,465 lbs. (1,118 kg)
  • EPA curb weight-to-power: 10.4 lbs./horsepower (4.7 kg/horsepower)
High-tech 1750 Turbo engine and Alfa TCT pair for exceptional performance and drivability
The engine is the beating heart of any Alfa Romeo, and for the 4C, it beats to an all-new 1750 cc direct-injection 237 horsepower all aluminum engine. To ensure exceptional performance and drivability on the racetrack or city streets, this new engine features cutting-edge technical solutions, including direct-injection, intercooler, dual (intake and exhaust) continuous variable-valve timing (VVT), a camshaft with eight counterweights, and intake and exhaust systems optimized for Alfa Romeo 4C's mid-engine layout.
A new generation turbocharger features a pulse-converter exhaust manifold to exploit pressure waves and boost torque at low-engine speeds. A waste gate valve adjusts turbo pressure and improves the engine's efficiency. Advanced scavenging technology enables the Alfa Romeo 4C to maximize torque at low engine speeds and deliver more response to driver input by increasing combustion efficiency and turbine speed, all while eliminating turbo lag. As a result, torque delivery is instantaneous, with a peak of 258 ft.-lb. (350 Nm); 80 percent of which is available at only 1,700 rpm.
Teamed to the all-aluminum engine is a paddle-shifting Alfa TCT twin-clutch transmission, which has been specifically tuned for the all-new Alfa Romeo 4C. With its uniquely calibrated software that adjusts with the Alfa DNA selector system, the Alfa TCT's gearshifts are designed to become most aggressive in the Dynamic and Race modes. The Alfa TCT system also integrates a "launch control" mode - delivering the utmost acceleration possible as soon as the driver releases the brake.
Innovative Alfa DNA selector
The all-new Alfa Romeo 4C features the brand's innovative Alfa DNA selector with "Race" mode - enabling the driver to optimize the right level of performance through four modes. With a touch of the Alfa DNA selector, the character of the Alfa Romeo 4C can be changed to (in order of increasing capability):
  • All-weather - designed to ensure maximum control under adverse weather conditions and enables gentler accelerator input and special engine and brake control logic to match road speed and prevent skidding
  • Natural - enables grand touring comfort and smooth drivability for the Alfa TCT gearbox
  • Dynamic - enables improved driving performance via a more aggressive powertrain calibration and less intrusive electronic stability control (ESC) setting
  • Race - is the most extreme performance mode, putting the driver in total control of the car under race conditions. ESC and anti-slip regulation (ASR) are deactivated to allow the driver to control traction through the accelerator pedal. The Alfa Romeo Electronic Q2 differential control system remains active for fast exits out of corners or bends.
    • In Race mode, launch control can be activated, allowing the Alfa Romeo 4C to deliver supercar-level 0-to-60 mph acceleration blasts in the mid-4 second range
For driving convenience in Dynamic, Natural or All-weather modes, the Alfa Romeo TCT gearbox can utilize an "auto" mode.
4C combines the best technical and manufacturing competencies of Alfa Romeo and Maserati
The very best technical and industrial expertise of the Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands were used to develop the all-new Alfa Romeo 4C. Teamwork between the two brands included the integration of the Alfa Romeo Style Center design with the well-known craftsmanship of the Maserati brand's Modena production plant. In addition, the Alfa Romeo 4C was boosted by the technological contributions of Italian suppliers, who are international leaders in manufacturing high-performance components.
This is a distinguishing trait of Alfa Romeo, a brand with a century of history that continues to be one of the most famous and popular ambassadors of Italian products around the world.
